Me Lose weight?

Metabolic Syndrome.

Metabolic Syndrome is collection of medical conditions.  It is defined as:  (1) Low High-density Lipoprotein (HDL) <this is a blood fat>  (2) High Triglycerides  (3) Abdominal Obesity  (4) High Blood Pressure  (5) Insulin Resistance  (6) Pre-Excessive Clotting State <determined by complex blood tests>  (7) Pre-Excessive Inflammatory State <determine by complex blood tests>.  This site by the American Heart Association http://www.americanheart.org/presenter.jhtml?identifier=4756 is excellent for discussing the Metabolic Syndrome.

In simpler lay-language Metabolic Syndrome is (1) Abnormal Blood Fats (2) Abnormal Blood Proteins (3) Pot Belly Fat  (4) High Blood Pressure  and a (5) Pre-Diabetic State.

This medical disorder is a relatively new medical disorder.  Slowly the medical profession is starting to recognize it.  The primary cause of the increase in this disorder is the rise in obesity and sedentary life style.  The reason this disorder is so feared is that it is hard to detect and it places patients at increased risk of: (1) Heart Attack  (2) Stroke (3) Peripheral Vascular Disease <Poor Circulation> (4) Peripheral Neuropathy <Arms and Legs Nerve Disorder> and (5) Diabetes Type-2.

The reason I write about this disease is its relationship to obesity.  Undiagnosed Metabolic Syndrome can make it very difficult to lose weight.  In chapter eleven (11) of Dr. Phil's book "The Ultimate Weight Solution"  he describes trying to lose weight and being weight loss resistant.  Once he was properly diagnosed with Metabolic Syndrome and treated for it he successfully loss weight.
